This project explores the intersection of tradition and modern design by reimagining a tortilla press tailored for making buñuelos, a beloved Mexican holiday pastry. Inspired by my grandmother’s recipe, the goal was to design a tool that enhances the cooking process while maintaining a deep cultural connection.

Design Problem

Traditional tortilla presses, while effective for flattening dough, are not specifically designed for making buñuelos. The standard models often lack ergonomic efficiency and multipurpose functionality, requiring additional tools for handling and serving. The challenge was to create a press that improves the process of making buñuelos, incorporating usability, cultural aesthetics, and practical enhancements in a seamless design.
